Bhasan Char, 1 January 2025 — A sudden suspension of gas distribution has left residents of Bhasan Char scrambling to adapt as households face severe LPG shortages. The announcement, made by the Camp-in-Charge (CiC) office, confirmed that gas distribution was halted on 31 December 2024, with no indication of when services will resume.

In the absence of LPG, families have been forced to resort to wood-fired stoves for cooking, a significant shift from their usual practices. This has sparked concerns over fire hazards and environmental impact, as the increased use of firewood adds strain on already limited resources.

The situation has created difficulties for residents, with many reporting challenges in sourcing firewood. Efforts to address the issue remain unclear, as the CiC's office has yet to provide updates on when gas distribution will be restored.
